The answer is embedded somewhere in this Wings Gram. I heard it on the wind -- new show now taping from Angell, Casey, and Lee, called Pigsty. I called the Paramount info line over the weekend to check the taping sked for WINGS and heard of Pigsty. It'll be good, has some fine siblings, but don't know what it's about. Anybody read of it yet? I don't see the trade press or even TV Guide so I have to depend on you folks. An odd occurrence on the Paramount info line. Like most, it's a touch tone menu, press 1 for show schedules, press 2 for ticket info, etc. Finally "If you're calling from a rotary phone or need other assistance then press 0." I tried pressing 0 from my old red rotary phone and was promptly disconnected. -----WG----- I've updated the WINGS THINGS guide and will include it at the end of this Wings Gram. If you have WWW access there are two WINGS related pages that I know of. Give them both a try. Matt Messina's contains the List of List. Riaz Mohammed's in under construction and has a number of images. If you know of other on-line WINGS material out there let me know. For a good time on the World Wide Web try the Ultimate Television home page. It provides links to information on 107 TV shows. Get to it by pointing at: http://www.tvnet.com/UTVL/utvl.html If you do get there and want links to even more sites, click on the entry CREATIVE INTERNET. Travel the world with your mouse and modem. -----WG----- The Wings taping schedule for January: 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st. Taping begins at 7 pm -- sessions last about 3 hours according to Paramount guest relations and the audience tickets "go pretty fast". Anybody interested in attending? Apparently the cast and crew seldom see the NBC broadcast -- they're busy working on a later episode. -----WG----- Warning: For those of you not interested in aircraft trivia, bale out now -- jump on down to next article. It's been noted that in shots of the "Sandpiper" aircraft in flight differing tail numbers can be found. The storyline and hangered plane are N121PP, which is a real plane owned by Paramount Pictures. Other shots show a N121PB and N160PB. I had assumed the N121PB was a quicky number change done with vinyl tape just for the shots, a slight modification to the tail number for some reason -- since it is so close to N121PP. And the N160PB, who knows? A rental maybe. I recently found a link to the FAA aircraft registry so gave it a spin and found that N121PB is a real tail number -- registered as: N121PB Model: 402C (fixed wing multiengine) Owner: HERMAN FOSTER R City: NEW BEDFORD, MA 02740 and the third aircraft is N160PB Model: 402C (fixed wing multiengine) Owner: EXPRESS AIR INC City: NEW BEDFORD, MA 02746 Incidentally here are the stats on N121PP N121PP Serial No: 411-0069 Manufacturer: CESSNA Model: 411 (fixed wing multiengine) Year: 1965 Series: 02 Engines: 02 (reciprocating) Cruise: 0198 Seats: 008 Owner: PARAMOUNT PICTURES CORP Address: 5555 MELROSE AVE City: HOLLYWOOD, CA 90038 Is it pure coincidence that the aircraft from New Bedford has a tail number almost identical to the Paramount plane? I assume the aerial shots were done in 1990 prior to the beginning of the series, using the New Bedford planes. Did Paramount later purchase a plane for their own use and request a nearly identical tail number so the location shots would match the west coast shots? Also, when hanger shots are done, is that the real N121PP? Looks real to me. Gonna need some help from that old pilot comin' through the hanger door with the heavenly light behind him to dig this out. I've gone as far as I can go. And by the way, Happy Birthday to N121PP, 30 years old this year. -----WG----- I'd like to open up a new category of memorable Wings sights -- I'll call it the NVQ or non-verbal quote. Scenes or iamges you have that have stayed with you. Here're some samples. Lowell's lunging fake rabbit punches to anyone alongside Joe's "dumb" look. Head tilted down, mouth open, eyes wide The episode in which Brian touting his NASA connection made an ascending rocket with his hand and Joe, right behind him brought it down and back to earth with another hand motion. Others? dw Viewer mail straight ahead. -----WG----- Date: Sat, 31 Dec 1994 13:04:36 -0500 (EST) From: fubar@netaxs.com Subject: For ALL- Wow Nice job on WG#10 there.. I especially liked reading the "ramblings" from David Lee.. That's also kind of funny.. I went to Archbishop Ryan HS with a guy named David Lee.. (an eery chill fills the room).. It's interesting that they were going to have Helen and Joe married and divorced before.. Finally, my vote for the Wings Gram goes with keeping it the way it is now.. Status Quo all the way..!!! ;D lates! Steve -----WG----- Date: Tue, 3 Jan 1995 09:44:51 -0500 (EST) From: Zack Kelley Subject: Wings misc. Hey everybody - Has anybody else noticed that the actor that played Roy's son R.J. is on the TV program ER? He is one of the people at the registration desk. I watched the 2 hour ER TV movie last night and he was there. I've also seen him on just about every ER episode that I've watched so far this season. He was sporting a goatee last evening. I'm not sure if he still has it, but I am pretty sure that the actor is the same person that played R.J. a few seasons back. Also, last night while watching the 11pm Wings episode on USA (the show where Brain goes to the Prudential Building in Beantown to meet his ex-wife) it dawned on me that the characters on Wings have not been very fortunate with marriage. For example: Joe --> fiance left him for his brother Brain --> Divorced from Carol Helen --> Divorced from Antonio Antonio --> Divorced from Helen Faye --> Married to 3 different Georges Roy --> Divorced from Silvia Lowell --> Divorced from Bunny Casey --> Left on the docks by Stuart Well, just a couple of observations. I'm thinking of Antonio's comment of "I have to get a life" while I type this in :-). ... My wife loves the show almost as much as I do. She stops short of using quotes from the show in appropriate real life situations. Me - I use 'em whenever appropriate or inappropriate for that matter. She told me that I needed a reality check when I tried to rename our cat "Hackett." I can't wait to see tonight's episode (demonic old girlfriend). The previous episode with her is one of my favorites - especially when Joe breaks out the 70's disco moves. peace, zack [these Wings folks are high risks for marriage that's for sure. Comedy often walks a fine line between pain and joy and WINGS has found fertile comedic ground in the relationships you've mentioned. We seem to be headed toward a real marriage now -- Joe and Helen's. I wonder how many Wings-named pets (kids!) are out there? --dw] -----WG----- Episode Summary Time from Tuesday Jan 3rd 95 This week 3 versions --- keep em coming Date: Thu, 5 Jan 1995 22:41:32 -0500 From: ACAVITT@aol.com Subject: wings Here's a WG for you since you missed it this week. It was a good one. "Psycho Sandy" returns to Nantucket in the January 3rd episode of Wings. The gullible Joe is ridiculed by Brian and Helen about Sandy's obsession and terrorized when Sandy, now a Judge, stages an elaborate wedding reminiscent of the Prom Night scenario last season. Antonio reluctantly inherits a 1970's wardrobe from Fay's ex-husband and Lowell becomes a zealous vegetarian. Alicia Cavitt Lakeland FL -----WG----- Date: Wed, 4 Jan 1995 11:51:19 -0500 (EST) From: fubar@netaxs.com Subject: For ALL! - 1/3 Episode! This episode was hilarious! I had never seen the "Prom" episode, though.. This chick is totally obsessed with Joe..! Heh.. Very nicely done.. I guess I should submit my homework now? Okay, then.. Sandy Cooper, an pyscho/looney case returns to Nantucket for a while.. She first pretends that the whole prom thing that happened before was a joke.. Joe is thankful.. But, when Joe goes to Helen's house to pick her up, she throws a mock wedding ceremony for her and Joe. _NO_ joke (but it was funny to us Wings fans! ;D). Joe attempts to confront her the next morning, but she denies it all. Right before Sandy leaves, she says to Joe in a low voice, "Next year, Joe junior!" Meanwhile, Antonio is an unfortunate victim. While over at Fay's house, Fay discovers that he is the same size as husband #x George, and gives him all of his clothes (heh).. And, Lowell becomes a vegetarian. Welp, there you go.. More later! Steve -----WG----- Date: Wed, 4 Jan 1995 08:55:41 -0800 (PST) From: Ray Li Subject: She's Back Last season, Sandy Cooper promised next year would be "homecoming," but it looks like Joe and Helen's wedding plans accelerated Sandy's own internal timetable. Now a circuit judge, Sandy dupes Joe into thinking that the incident in the basement last season was just a practical joke, then uses her new job as judge to preside over her and Joe's wedding. (And since she's a judge, that makes it legal, doesn't it? Hmmm... interesting plot possibilities here if Sandy returns for a third time, though I'm almost afraid to ask how she'd fulfill her promise at the end!) Hilarious episode; my only qualm is with the fact that the plot was pretty much the same as for "2 Good 2 Be 4 Gotten" last season. I can understand why it had to be like that (I mean, an obsession is an obsession, right?) and Sandy's line at the end made it obvious that the plot similarity was intended. "Pick up milk...pick up eggs...pick up nail clippers...the good kind." "I can take a joke just as well as the next guy--No I can't, I hate all of you!"
